Amounted with student loan debt.
Working in a career field that is completely unrelated to my undergrad degree.
Probably forgot every thing I learned in college.
Have not applied anything I learned in college in the real world yet.
Did not gain any practical skills during my four years that would help in the real world.
Lost valuable time and resources that could've been utilized with more practical value.

College was a bit of a waste of time for me but I'm not blaming it on the system. It was my own fault that I didn't know what the fuck I wanted to do back then and didn't use my time and money efficiently. I'm in sort of a related field now so I'm not going to say that I totally regret going, but looking back, I should have taken some classes more relevant to what I'm doing now.

academically, eh... as a social science major i learned a lot about social behavior and can rationalize most reactions people take to a situation, and in that way can feel empathy and be much more patient... but this can be attained through years of customer service.

in contrast to didactic teaching, i learned these few but invaluable lessons:
1. time management: how to get my shit together without having mom/school/whatever breathing down my neck.
2. communication skills, aka how to BS

could i have learned these lessons outside of college? sure, why not? but at what length? how long would i have to be in the "real world" before i had such lessons come knocking on my door?

i dont regret college; college helped me solidify my morals/ethics/personality.

also, i think it says a great deal about someone who finishes college, even if its a shit degree. its easy to drop out.

college is for chumps.

most people don't view university as a center of learning and research, but as an advanced vocational school. the few people to remain 'true to themselves' and major in a non-vocational study or whatever end up working in some unrelated field, or at starbucks.

moreover, the vast majority of college students are wasting their time and the school's time. higher education isn't for everyone, but there's this myth that says anyone can go to college.

i don't think that finding amazing friends and weeding out not-so-amazing people is a product of college, but is a product of growing up. it would have happened wherever you went, whether straight into the work force, the military, the peace corp, etc.

for me, undergrad was simply a degree to get my foot in the door. i havent really applied too many things i learned in undergrad either.

however, bschool is teaching me a lot of practical skills. its just that it costing me a lot more than undergrad.
